A Little Bit of This

“Autumn repays the earth the leaves which summer lent it.” (Georg Christoph Lichtenberg)

Hello, my lovely friends!

How was your Halloween? Of course we didn’t pass out candy again this year, fingers crossed next year. We do turn off our garage and porch lights until around 10 p.m. Not many neighbors around us were giving out candy, but maybe it’s because we didn’t do it. When the little man went outside I could hear kids screaming because someone nearby had a haunted house in their garage. On our Facebook community page many people were posted that they had candy and no kids. There were a handful of Trunk and Treats last weekend and maybe that’s why not many kids were out. It also could be we had snow the day before and it was cold outside.

Now that Halloween is over I’m going to start bringing up the Christmas boxes and deep clean the house to start decorating it. I took down the coffee bar and already have the new one up. I’ll post that in Tuesday’s blog. I still can’t believe we’re in the holiday season now. I’m excited for it, but also sad at the same time. It doesn’t get easier when missing loved ones during the holidays.

The garden is done including the lettuce in the containers, the frost took everything. This weekend I’m going to clean out the containers and put some of the leaves that I’m going to mulch into the containers. I still have a few things in the front to cut down for the season. It’s sad to see everything go to sleep until spring, but I welcome the break from taking care of it.

Mother Nature has been playing around with us for about a week with the weather. We’ve broken a heat record over the weekend at 78. Yep, 78 here in Colorado in November. It’s been beautiful weather here, but it’s changing again. Yesterday the winds blew in and the cold weather came back. Today it’s going to rain with maybe some snow down in Denver. It’s going to snow in the mountains though. Speaking of the mountains many ski resorts are already opened because there’s so much snow already.

Still cleaning up the yard and now it looks like all the leaves are down and I can clean that up. I also have to clean up all the containers and get rid of everything. It’s so sad when you have to do that and put everything to sleep, but also exciting to have a rest from gardening. Now to plan for next year.

So glad you could stop by! Wishing you a splendid rest of your day/evening/morning, wherever you may be.

Until next time! Adios...

  1. Halloween is always pretty quiet here as the apartment is not a stop for the little ones, the rain held off for them though and I heard others has quite a few out there. Now our Remembrance Day flag is out and poppies on our jackets.

    1. We didn't do candy and it seemed quiet out there. It was cold the day before and there was a trunk n treat. We're getting snow tonight.

      Enjoy your day! (((BIG HUGS)))

  2. Halloween weather here was nice for the little spooks and hobgoblins. Stormy and gloomy today. Snowbirds at the feeder yesterday. Not ready for the winter weather. Happy Sunday!! 🤗💖

    1. We're in winter weather right now all week with only one day off from the freezing cold and snow. It's here earlier than last year.

Have a lovely day! (((BIG HUGS)))

  3. We had good weather for trick or treating (the village had it last Sunday) but no kids. Lots of house parties or organized parties. Sad, but probably a better idea. Just too many crazies out there. *SIGH*

    I know. Wrapping my head around holiday season already. Where . . . has . . . this . . . year . . . gone! Sheesh.

It IS a mixed bag putting the flowers and garden to sleep for the winter. Hate to see it end, but . . . the break from outside work is kinda nice.

Most of our leaves are gone. Still some to go, though. I can only imagine . . . we’re supposed to have rain from today through Wednesday, so . . . the leaves will be down.

    Here’s to a blessed Sunday.

    Hugs

    1. We're getting snow overnight and into tomorrow and then more the end of the week. The garden needs to get pulled up and some more flowers and plants cut down for the season. I wish I had one nice sunny week before this cold to finish up the yard though. Isn't the clean up at the end of the season the worst part?

Have a wonderful day! (((BIG HUGS)))

  4. It's Kathy. We had a very quiet Halloween. It's been like that for years and years now. I do think so many churches do Trunk or Treat now - the church I go to for my bible studies had the whole auditorium set up with bouncy houses and other fun things for the kiddos! And it was snowy and cold that night. Have a wonderful Sunday!

    1. The Trunk n Treat seemed to be the big thing right now. We're going to finally decorate next year. We're getting snow tonight and you know I'm loving it.
