My Love For Witches

"Stop talking yourself out of the life you want most." (Terri Trespicio)

Hello, my lovely friends!

Why witches? While some perceive witches as evil, I see them as powerful and independent figures. Sure, there are a few bad apples, but I prefer to envision them as enigmatic and with a touch of diva. You know how much I love all things diva!

1. My all-time favorite Halloween costume is hands-down a witch. It began when I was a little girl and first watched The Wizard of Oz. While most kids fell in love with Dorothy, I was captivated by the Wicked Witch of the West. I knew right then that I wanted to be a witch for Halloween.

For years, I dressed up as a witch, each year a little different from the last. My mom always went the extra mile with my costumes. One year, she used green oatmeal to create a spooky complexion, and another year, she braided my hair the night before to give me long, wavy locks.

2. Speaking of witches, I've always loved Halloween and have a tradition of dressing up as one to hand out candy. It's not always the classic black dress and pointy hat; I've had fun experimenting with different witchy themes, like a gypsy witch, a zombie witch, and even a fallen witch.

3. My love for witches is pretty obvious if you've seen my Halloween decor. I've collected a variety of witch figurines over the years, and I even have a few outdoor ones that like to chat. Whenever I'm Halloween shopping, witches are always on my list.

4. Salem, Massachusetts is my Halloween happy place! My sister lives near Boston, so one year, I decided to spend Halloween there. We spent three days exploring Salem, taking my young nephews trick-or-treating, and immersing ourselves in the witchy atmosphere. Dressed as witches ourselves, we joined the countless others celebrating Halloween in Salem. It was a magical experience I'd love to repeat.

5. While my childhood friends were captivated by the classic Disney princesses, I found myself drawn to the darker side of the stories. Instead of Cinderella, Snow White, and Aurora, my favorite characters were the villains: Maleficent, Cruella, and the Evil Queen. My fascination with Maleficent has endured, and she remains one of my favorite characters. I even have a screen saver, journal, and a costume dedicated to her.

6.  One of my all-time favorite films is The Wizard of Oz. It's a timeless classic packed with valuable life lessons. One of my favorite quotes comes from Glinda, the Good Witch, who tells Dorothy as she leaves Oz, 'You've always had the power within you.' This is such a powerful reminder that we often possess the strength and abilities we need, even when we doubt ourselves. It's a beautiful film that continues to inspire and teach.

May this season be filled with haunted houses, pumpkin patches, and plenty of spooky surprises.

Thank you for stopping by…
