"Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way baseball is." (Bullet Bob Feller)
Hello, my lovely friends!
Can you believe it? The holiday blogs are this week? It feels like just yesterday we were sweltering in 90-degree heat. But hey, that means it's officially Fall! Let's dive into some cozy autumnal vibes before the holiday cheer takes over.
1. One autumn, during my high school days, I thought it would be totally cool to rock a set of fake nails. Little did I know, that decision would lead to a hilarious backyard adventure. My dad was busy raking leaves, and being the helpful daughter I am, I offered to lend a hand. As I was stuffing leaves into trash bags, a tiny, unexpected drama unfolded. One of my fabulous press-on nails had decided to take a break from my fingers and go on a leaf-filled vacation. I had to do a mini-dig to find it, but I finally did.
2. Fall meant cozy nights, warm blankets, and a whole new lineup of comfort foods. My mom would whip up steaming bowls of Cream of Wheat, hearty chicken soup, and spice tea. To this day, those chilly-weather favorites are still reserved for autumn, bringing back all the nostalgia of childhood.
3. Back in the day, we’d load up the car with a cooler full of snacks and drinks and hit the road. The four of us would spend the day exploring the mountains, watching the Aspens transform into a vibrant tapestry of color. We’d wander through quaint mountain towns, browsing shops and grabbing a bite to eat. It had been ages since we’d done this, but just before my Dad and Bella passed, we took one last trip to soak up the autumnal beauty. I’m so glad we made those memories together.
4. There's nothing quite like the feeling of slipping into my summer jammies on a cold night, snuggled under a cozy blanket of flannel sheets. It's the perfect combination of warmth and comfort.
5. Nothing beats a steaming bowl of Menudo on a chilly day! This hearty Mexican soup, packed with tripe and hominy, is a comfort food classic. Some even swear by it as a hangover cure, but I love it just for its rich, satisfying flavor. It takes a little time to prepare, but trust me, it's worth every minute.
6. My first hayride was an adventure. I went with friends, had a blast, discovered allergies, and missed out on s'mores. Still, it was a memorable experience.
So glad you could stop by! Wishing you a splendid rest of your day/evening/morning,
wherever you may be. Until next time! Adios...
I also remember that the first week in September was when all the new TV shows started and old ones came back with new episodes. Since there was no recording methods we carefully went through the TV Guide and marked each show we would watch because of course if you missed a premiere you couldn't see it until the repeats in the summer. New cars came out in the fall too with a huge fanfare. It was a really big deal.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great memory! I can definitely relate to the excitement of a new TV season. Back in the day, there was nothing quite like flipping through the TV Guide and planning out your viewing schedule. And the anticipation of new car models was just as thrilling.
DeleteIt's interesting to think about how much technology has changed since then. Now, we can easily record shows and catch up on our favorite programs whenever we want. But there was something special about the ritual of watching a show live and looking forward to the next episode.
Have a marvelous day! (BIG HUGS)))
New school year with all the great smells...new crayons, new book bag, and the rest of all the necessary tools for the classroom. Thanks for sharing your memories. 🖍️📝🎒
ReplyDeleteOh, the sweet scent of a new school year! Those fresh crayons, the crisp pages of a new notebook, the smell of a brand-new backpack – it's a sensory overload of excitement. It's like stepping into a world of endless possibilities, filled with knowledge and adventure.

LOL! Visions of you going through those leaves looking for that escaped fake nail!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Cream of Wheat. One of my favorite Fall and Winter breakfasts.
Awwww, sweet memories of those trips to see the color changes.
Yes, love fluffy blankets when the chill is in the air!
Soup of any kind is fair game for me in ALL seasons, but especially Fall and Winter.
Here’s to a great weekend.

Dad was cracking up watching me rummage through the leaves for my lost fake nail! 😂 We already had our fill of Cream of Wheat last week during that chilly downpour. Time to stock up on all those cozy comfort foods.

It's Kathy. Lovely fall memories. My favorite time to go camping was in the fall. The leaves would be so beautiful and sitting by a fire at the campsite was a perfect way to end a lovely day. When we got our new mattress and box spring, we splurged on a set of fleece sheets. They are so cozy that we've left them on all summer long! But they are best in the cooler nights of fall and winter! Enjoy today!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a wonderful camping trip! I love the idea of enjoying the fall foliage while cozying up by a campfire. Fleece sheets are definitely a great choice for cooler weather. They sound so soft and comfortable!
