Organizing Game On

"You can find energizing moments in each aspect of your life, but to do so you must learn how to catch them, hold onto them...and allow yourself to follow where they lead." (Marcus Buckingham)

Hello, my lovely friends!

Most people do the "spring cleaning" thing, but I start doing everything once a new year begins. We would all like to have everything organized, but the idea can seem overwhelming that you have no clue where to start. The next thing you know you've given up doing any of it, but I have a some things that I do to get things in order.

1. Pick one room or area ~ normally I start with a smaller one like a bathroom one a closet. Starting small makes it look and feel like you’ve done a lot. This way by the time you get to the larger rooms you'll have the majority of the rooms cleaned and organized.

2. Keep, donate or giveaway ~ this year is all about downsizing things in the house. I'm at the point where I no longer want to keep things that I don't use or think one day I will use it. I know a lot of us have those things at home. I would get a couple of boxes and throw what you want to donate and giveaway in each box. Once you have that filled go take it to wherever you donate. This way you won't have a chance to talk yourself into keeping it.

3. Finish a room or area and be done with it ~ I know I'm guilty of starting somewhere and then moving on to another part before finishing it. My goal this time around is to start and finish before I move on.

4. Make it fit for you ~ I've seen organizing videos and there is no way I would have a house that organized because its not me. However, I do like having things in their own place. Find what works for you and go with it.

Those are the rules that I'm giving myself this year to get my home organized. If you have any other suggestions feels free to add them.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

I wish you a good morning, afternoon or evening wherever you are.

Talk soon…

  1. Great plan! It is really important to clear out what you don't want or use because then you see all the stuff that is really important and you get to enjoy them more. Happy purging! You got this!

  4. Great ideas. I am planning on doing the same starting with my office. I also got a new address book. My mom always said "A place for everything and everything in its place". I figure if I start now maybe I'll be done by gardening season!
