"The trick is to enjoy your life. Don't waste away your days, waiting for better ones ahead." (Marjorie Pay Hinckley)
Hello, my lovely friends!
It is so good to "see" you! Grab a mug and get comfortable, I feel like it’s been forever since we really sat down to catch up, and I have so much to tell you.
I had the strangest week! Last week, I ended up totally out of commission for a few days. It started out so weirdly; my neck got incredibly sore, but I just figured I’d slept on it wrong (you know how it is) and tried to ignore it. But as the day went on, I could really feel it, it was definitely more than just a bad pillow situation.
I did my usual "fix-it" routine: took some NyQuil and just knocked out for the night. I spent the next couple of days being a total homebody and resting up because I was determined not to miss the festival at our garden center. Luckily, by Friday, I started feeling like a human again, and I’m so glad I rested because we made it to the festival on Saturday and had the best time.
Oh, I have an update on my mom, and honestly, I’m feeling a little bummed about it.
Remember how excited I was when I told you she finally got those shots and was feeling so much better? Well, it seems like the "magic" isn't working quite as well as it was a few weeks ago. She’s starting to feel that familiar ache again—thankfully it’s not super intense yet, but it’s definitely there.
She had actually stopped using her gummies and creams for a bit, but she’s back on them now. I was really, really hoping those shots would give her a much longer break from the pain, you know? It’s hard to see her go through it.
She’s understandably pretty upset that the pain is creeping back in, but I’m trying to stay positive for her. We’re hoping that layering the gummies and creams back in will do the trick and get her comfortable again. Plus, the doctor mentioned there are still a few other options we can explore if we need to.
Can we talk about this weather for a second? It is absolutely wild. I know most of the world is tucked away in snow and freezing winter temps, but honestly, it feels like September over here! It hit 68°F yesterday, and the whole week has been just like that. Looking at the forecast, next week is more of the same.
It’s definitely a bit of a bummer realizing we won’t have a white Christmas this year. Honestly, we won’t even have a cold one! It’s such a strange vibe for the holidays.
But, I have to tell you, it’s not all sunshine and patio weather. The winds have been really scary lately. They’re so intense that the mountain towns are on high alert for fires, which is so stressful for everyone there. The power company even had to shut off our electricity for a few hours just to keep things safe.
It’s really starting to feel like the seasons are shifting permanently in our neck of the woods.
We’ve been slowly turning the house into a little winter wonderland over here. We’re definitely taking the "slow and steady" approach this year, just soaking in the glow of the lights. We haven't even tucked the tree into its spot yet, but that’s next on the list before the big day arrives!
Tomorrow, we’re venturing out to gather all the goodies for our holiday feast. I can already smell the kitchen magic starting. I truly hope you and yours are having the most wonderful, peaceful season.
So glad you stopped by! Wishing you the coziest morning/afternoon/evening ahead. Can't wait for our paths to cross again!

Sounds like your weather pattern "on the high plateau" is similar to ours on the plains down the hill! We're supposed to top 50 on Christmas day. Of course there are those fronts that go through every few days to make sure we don't forget it's Winter!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your mom's and for that matter, your own, health things. Hang in there and savor the times when things are smooth, right? Hope you're able to have a good Christmas even so! I can almost smell the kitchen and spices from here!

How sad for your mom. A healing miracle would be a terrific present.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the time as we head into the big day! 🎄🎅🏼
Yup, I am under the weather too today but after taking over the counter stuff I hope to finish off the shopping for stocking stuffers and our friends who come on Christmas eve. Yes, over time meds don't do as well as they did with the body getting more use to it. Hopefully the doctor will figure what can be the next step. Take care!
ReplyDeleteIt's Kathy. I'm so glad you were feeling well enough to go to the garden center because the photos were absolutely gorgeous! I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Not sure if it's cortisone that she's getting but my experience is that it is fairly short lived, especially if it's for back pain. I've had good success with cortisone in my knee, but yes, those shots in the back lasted such a short time that I decided it just wasn't worth it. I saw my Pain Management doctor the end of November and she said I could have a second one but I chose not to. It is hugely disappointing because the doctors make it sound like some kind of magical cure! You're wise to keep positive, your mom really needs that now! I sure wish I had even ONE child who checked in on me! Thanks for checking in!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you feel better and made the festival on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear the shots are less effective, but hope the gummies and cream helps.
Well, good and bad . . . glad that your are enjoying nice weather, but sorry it won’t be a White Christmas.
Have fun transforming your home w/your Mom into a winter wonderland.
