It Was a Good Visit

"Have a good time. Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving. You have to keep going. Put one foot in front of the other, smile and just keep on rolling." (Kobe Bryant)

Hello, my lovely friends!

It’s been a busy week over here with company here, but it wasn’t all fun and games. This was a serious we need to do things visit with my sister and BIL.

There was some business with my mom’s will. She was changing it over to a trust for me and also a way to protect the house. So, my BIL was here to help her out with that. Then she had to start looking for a new car. The three of them went out even while it was snowing to look for one. She is barrowing it down to a couple now. I think my sister is coming out in a month to help out some more with everything.

It was a busy few days with them, but we got a lot done. Unfortunately, it took a lot out of my mom and now she’s paying for it. She has this pain going down the left side of her leg that is doubling her over. It’s been so hard on her and she can barely walk without it hitting her. She was apologizing the other day saying she didn’t think I’d have to turn into the full-time caregiver so soon.

It has been a busy and sometime upsetting couple of days. I know these are things that have to be done with my mom’s age and health not so good, but it just gets upsetting to have to hear about it.

It’s been a crazy emotional week, but now we can get back to normal this weekend. So, how’s everything going with you all?

Thank you for stopping by! Wishing you a day/evening/morning filled with sunshine, laughter, and perhaps a little bit of magic. Until next time, ta-ta for now!

  1. As one who has been through all of that, it can be overwhelming. I would fight it from time to time but then found as long as I embraced it things went more smoothly. Not that that wasn't hard. Huge hugs.

    1. Thank you for your honesty about it. I need to sit down and come up with a schedule for myself to take care of the house. I knew this day would come, but thought I had more time. Hope things are good with you.

      Enjoy your weekend! (((BIG HUGS)))

  3. So wonderful that you had your family to help your Mom and you w/the will and car buying. TWO HUGE tasks.

As carer for my DH now, after caring for my parents too, it is fair to say, I UNDERSTAND how daunting it is to face these issues head on. But you’re doing a good job. Just take the help you are offered and be sure to ask for it, too. Your Mom (like my parents) probably feels ‘guilty’ that you are doing things that she was used to doing (my DH feels that way, too) but . . . there’s not a choice. Love enters the equation and for sure, it becomes less of a burden. Wrapping you in ((HUGS)) and prayers . . . for your Mom, too.

HUGS and blessings to you and your family.

    1. This is going to be rough all by myself, but I know I can put a schedule together for myself. Yes, thank you I will ask for help when needed. I would rather do it than someone else. Thank you for all that.

Have a great weekend! (((BIG HUGS)))

  4. It's Kathy. I'm glad your sister & BIL came to help with some of the details regarding your mom. Both my parents died from a stroke - they were fine one day and gone the next. So I never had to see and big changes in them. Please tell your mom not to give up! A year ago I had such pain in my right leg that I had to stop walking Daisy. I still went to Pilates but couldn't do any other kind of exercise. But today I am starting to get my strength back! I'm going to wait until spring before Daisy and I venture out but I'm doing more and more with less and less pain. I use a heating pad a lot for my back but I'm also told that ice can help! You are a good daughter and I'm sure your mom appreciates everything you do for her.

    1. Having them here was a big help for some things we need to have done. My mom is a fighter so that's good. It's just hard watching her in pain. I think its her back pain that is going down through her nerves. I'm glad that you're doing so much better now, it makes me hopeful for my mom. Thank you so much for that.

      Enjoy your weekend! (((BIG HUGS)))

  5. HUGS to you and your family as you navigate these waters.

I managed to avoid getting too embroiled in my parents decline, as they pre-planned everything, and did not linger. We had some weeks of scrambling with Dad's final days, but he was still around to carry the bulk of Mom's. Now I'm facing the situation of being the one aging, and I worry about how it will impact my son and his wife when my own needs start growing or become suddenly worse. I need to be doing pre-planning myself.

    1. That's what my mom is trying to do get everything planned so we're not running around. We all feel good with what will happen now. Bless you, I know that's not easy to stare down that road.

Have a marvelous day! (((BIG HUGS))
