"I watch out my window as the planes take off into space. Oh, that I could fly away and start fresh. But I must realize that fresh starts also come in the pretty wrapped gift called tomorrow." (Anonymous)

For Halloween as a kid what was your …
Favorite costume ~ For most of my childhood Halloweens, I was a witch, but my mom was the real magic-maker! She'd create a new look every year. My favorite was the time she went all-in on the grotesque: she mixed oatmeal and food dye to create bumpy, green "warts" all over my face! I thought I was the coolest, most convincing witch on the block that year. Before putting on my costume, she'd always braid my hair into a hundred little ropes so that when they came out, I'd have the perfect, untamed, wild tangle of witch hair—no hat needed!
Favorite Halloween candy ~ I was a two-candy kid, but one was the clear winner. The simple candy straws—just sweet, sweet sugar—were a solid favorite. However, my true, deep-seated love was for all things wax. Give me those giant, goofy wax lips, and I was thrilled. Better yet, make them flavored! That's the secret: any waxy candy with a decent flavor had my heart.
Favorite Halloween special on T.V. ~ I'm a huge fan of The Bugs Bunny Halloween Special, but my absolute favorite part was when the witch came on screen singing, “A cup of tea, a cookie and yoo-hoo.” What a classic, catchy tune! You know I'm all about a good Halloween witch—they just make the holiday!
Favorite Halloween or Scary movie ~ My go-to scary movie is the original "Halloween." That's a classic for a reason—it's pure, unadulterated horror done right, a masterclass in tension!
But when it comes to a movie that captures the cozy, spooky Halloween vibe? I'm doubling down on the witches and picking "Practical Magic." I know, I know... it's not a horror flick, but the spells, the small-town atmosphere, and the sisterly magic just scream October.
Favorite Halloween memory ~ Growing up, Halloween wasn't just a holiday—it was the social event of the year in our tiny community! The annual costume contest was a huge deal, a genuine spectacle that brought everyone out. While I never managed to snag a prize, parading with my friends was the real win. We'd finish the night with classic autumn contests like bobbing for apples, laughing and having an absolute blast. Those nights were pure, simple fun.
So glad you stopped by! Wishing you the coziest morning/afternoon/evening ahead. Can't wait for our paths to cross again!
