Hello, my lovely friends!
This Thursday, get ready for a blog post detailing a very special day! I'm holding all the juicy details until then, so stay tuned. It's something special we're doing today.
Talk about a rollercoaster! We went from a week-long sauna party with temperatures hovering at a scorching 98 and 99 degrees, to Mother Nature finally taking pity on us this weekend. The mercury dropped into the mid-80s, giving our poor A/C a much-needed vacation.
Our local weather has gone completely bonkers. It's like it's having an identity crisis. We're sizzling in the high 90s during the day and then, once the sun sets, it's like a switch is flipped, and we're suddenly plunging into the 60s. We've been able to give our AC a break at night all summer, which feels bizarre. It's so odd that the trees are just as confused as we are—some leaves are already changing color, probably wondering if it's autumn or if they just missed a memo. It's a real head-scratcher.
The little garden I finally got around to planting is showing some signs of life! I'm seeing a few tiny jalapenos and some cherry tomatoes starting to pop up. I'm so excited that I'm going to whip up some salsa this week. I'll use the fresh jalapenos and some tomatoes I had the foresight to freeze from last year's harvest. I got a late start with everything that was going on with my mom, but I've since planted a bunch of stuff for a fall harvest, and it seems to be doing really well. It's nice to see some payoff for all that work, even if it was a little delayed.
I have some exciting news to share about Mike! He's coming to visit in October! He's already booked his flight and time off, so he'll be here at the end of the month, just in time for Halloween. This is a huge step for us, and I can't wait to see where this new chapter takes us.
Even my mom is excited, maybe a little too excited. She's already talking about having "the talk" with him, so wish him luck!
So glad you stopped by! Wishing you the coziest morning/afternoon/evening ahead. Can't wait for our paths to cross again.
Oooh, I would love the nights dropping down to the 60s, no such luck here as it is in the 90s all day and then only drops about 5degrees when the sun goes down. What great news that Mike is coming for for visit, I hope it is all you both wish it to be. Have a wonderful week ahead.
ReplyDeleteCool nights would be such a relief. The humidity levels remain high even when the temps dip a bit.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that your garden has survived all the weather swings.
Eagerly awaiting Thursday's news.
Happy Sunday! 🤗💖
It's Kathy. I sure hope your cooler weather makes it's way to Minnesota soon. We've also had the really hot and very humid (almost wet) days lately. The kind that make you feel like you can't take a deep breath. So far I've been able to not have the a/c going at night but I bring the fan into our bedroom! Excited to hear your Thursday's news - and how nice that Mike is coming to visit! Especially during Halloween!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, so excited that Mike is coming to visit in October! LOL Laughing @ your Mom that she is already planning "the talk" w/him. Ummmm . . . good luck. LOL
ReplyDeleteOur weather has just been unbelievable. Had 6-8 in. of rain from 5 pm yesterday to 6 am this morning. Then 2 more storms moved through. I am sure we got over 9 inches. Lots of flooding, but we are all right, thankfully.
Enjoy your salsa.
hugs and blessings
