"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal." (Hannah More)
Hello, my lovely friends!
I've decided to switch to a four-day work week for now: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. I'm sure Tuesdays will be back in the mix once the holidays roll around.
I finally got through to Kaiser on my mom's behalf, but only after sending a strongly worded email. I wrote it from her perspective, expressing her frustration with being given the runaround since the beginning of the year and ending it with "I'm sick of this!" That must have lit a fire under them, because she's since had three different doctors call to see what they can do to make things right. She's now waiting for her back and knee doctor to call on Monday.
The whole situation has been so frustrating. Just a few weeks ago, they told her she couldn't get shots in her back because of supposed fractures in her spine. After a recent MRI, they've now found no fractures, and it looks like she'll get those shots after all. It's ridiculous that it takes an angry email to get things done, but at least we're finally seeing some progress. This is really affecting my mom's mood. She's completely overwhelmed and it's exhausting her.
My sister and brother-in-law might be visiting in September. I mentioned to my sister how defeated our mom has been feeling lately, and a visit would do her a world of good. Mom is already excited, and I'm hopeful this will really cheer her up.
So glad you stopped by! Wishing you the coziest morning/afternoon/evening ahead. Can't wait for our paths to cross again!
I get that, here in Canada too, every senior has to have someone fight for them because the medical profession seems to brush seniors aside. They act as if they have dementia or imagining what is happening and will not listen. Good for you doing the fight. It will make a world of difference. I worry about those seniors who have no one. Huge hugs.
ReplyDeleteThe squeaky wheel gets the oil. Fighting for your mom's health is a fight worth fighting. A visit from your sister will be medicine that doctors can't prescribe. Good luck with the treatment. 🤗💖
ReplyDeleteIt's Kathy. I'm glad you stepped in to help your mom get the help she needs. I can't believe one doctor said she had fractures in her spine only to find with an MRI that wasn't the case. The spine is such an important part of our bodies - that seems totally unacceptable to me. I hope the shot will help her pain. I know only too well how defeated one feels when one is in pain so much of the time! It takes all your energy to deal with it! I hope your sister & BIL are able to visit! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you were able to light a fire under their backside to get things rolling for your Mom. So aggravating.
ReplyDeleteBoth Jason and I were in hospital in early July (he had a prostate surgery and I fractured my left hip). They wanted us to go to a rehab facility. NO NO NO. I said we will be better off @ home. So it took a bon fire to get that message across, but they finally heard it. And here we are @ home doing ok w/help. Sheesh. Glad you got the message through and hope your Mom feels better.
hugs and blessings

It just seems to take so much effort to be a squeaky wheel, but sometimes it's the only way to get moved up the priority list! Glad you're there fighting on your mom's behalf, and I'm glad your sister might come out to boost your mom's spirits, too!
