"Just because I laugh a lot, doesn't mean my life is easy. Just because I have a smile on my face every day, doesn't mean that something is not bothering me. I just choose to move on, and not dwell on all the negatives in my life. Every new moment gives me the chance to renew anew. I choose to be that." (Author Unknown)
Hello, my lovely friends!
Alright, weekend vibes are practically here! But hey, let's be real, doesn't it feel like every day's a mini-vacation sometimes? Anyone else been soaking up all this sunshine lately? It's been absolutely dreamy! Buuuut, hold onto your hats, folks, because it sounds like Jack Frost decided to clock in for some overtime. Yep, snow's making a surprise guest appearance tomorrow! Guess winter's determined to squeeze every last snowflake out.
The good news is, my mom's pain seems to be finally easing up! She's definitely using way less of the pain meds and gummies, which is fantastic. I still give her a nighttime gummy, and honestly, it's been a game-changer. For the past month, she's been sleeping all night long! Seriously, she used to be up and down constantly, so this is a huge win.
She chatted with her doctor about the pain last week, and they're keeping an eye on her A1C levels, which are a bit high. Of course, with all the stress, pain, and meds, it's understandable. She's working hard to get those numbers down so she can explore some treatment options.
I've been encouraging her to try physical therapy and some gentle stretching. She doesn't move around much during the day, and I think that's really contributing to her discomfort. We're hoping some movement will make a big difference!
Alright, sunshine lovers! Next week's forecast is looking absolutely glorious, which means... it's officially yard-spruce-up season! Time to dust off those gardening gloves and get ready to make some magic happen.
I'm super pumped to dive into my garden this year, especially after a few… ahem… learning experiences last season. (Let's just say my tomatoes decided black spots were the latest fashion trend, and some lettuce containers threw a full-on no-show party.) So, operation "Revamp the Garden" is in full swing!
First on the to-do list: fresh potting soil! It's been a few years, and I think my plants deserve a spa day for their roots. Then, it's seed-sorting time! I'm already dreaming of all the delicious veggies we'll be growing. And guess what? Those garden tables I bought ages ago? They're finally getting assembled! More space for more veggies! Woot!
I'm feeling a real buzz about growing my own food this year. It feels like more and more of us are rediscovering the joy of getting our hands dirty and watching things grow. Let's make this year's garden the best one yet! What are you all planning to plant?
Thank you so much for stopping by! Hope your morning/afternoon/evening is extra cozy and delightful. Until our paths cross again!
Great to hear your mom is doing better. Yup, garden season soon although not for us. Our balcony is on the north side and gets nearly no sunshine, great for keeping cool but not growing stuff. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear that your Mom is doing better. Anything that helps, right!
ReplyDeleteAnd we’ve had some nice days (cool, but sunny) but supposed to have rain overnight and into tomorrow, changing to snow perhaps on Sunday.
Well, hope that your Mom can get her A1C down. Prayers! And it does sound like PT would be good for her!
Dealt with the tomato blight. Never solved the problem, unfortunately.
This year: onions, garlic, tomatoes, oregano, bay, basil, thyme, rocket lettuce, squash. We’ll see what grows!
Hugs and blessings

It was a rough time when she was in pain, but so much better now. Our weather was beautiful today, but the cold and snow is coming back.
DeleteYeah my garden was not the best last year. I did move it to the other side of the patio, but not sure if that did it. I'm going to do lots of lettuces for sure.
Enjoy your day! (((BIG HUGS)))
It's Kathy. I'm glad your mom is starting to feel better. Yes, she needs to be more active and I am telling you this from my own experience. In the past I have stretched every evening but after another surgery and months of recovery, it's mentally harder for me to do that. But what I've found is that the days when I don't do my stretches, my body hurts so much more! Maybe even short walks would help. I am also anxious to plant my garden - it's been several years since I've been able to and I'm finally feeling good enough to do it. We've had some beautiful weather too - but rain/possible snow is on the way!
ReplyDeleteYes, my mom used to do stretches, but stopped. I keep telling her that she needs to move more. She can't walk much, but a little in the house is better than nothing.
DeleteI'm so excited for the garden this year. I have to start planning it now and what I want to plant. It's going to be a good year.
Have a wonderful day! (((BIG HUGS)))
Happy to read that your mom is feeling better. PT will help with more movement.
ReplyDeletePlanning a new garden sure helps with cabin fever.
Have a wonderful Thursday! 🤗💖
I know it was w rough time, but she seems to be at the end of it.
DeleteI was at Costco yesterday and seeing all the garden stuff got me excited. I know I can only plan and get the pots ready since it's still too early to do anything.
Have a fantastic day! (((BIG HUGS)))
