"Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap." (Barbara Jordan)
Hello, my lovely friends!
We headed downtown over the weekend to check out the big Day of the Dead celebration, and honestly, the city outdid itself this year. Walking through the streets felt like stepping straight into a warm, living watercolor painting. Everywhere you looked, there were massive, beautifully detailed statues towering over the crowds, surrounded by vivid flower displays, hand-painted skulls, and bright papaya-colored marigolds that caught the sunlight just right. The whole place was buzzing with music and energy, and it was so sweet seeing families out everywhere, just soaking in the tradition and taking it all in together.
The one downside was that my mom couldn't make the trip with us because her chronic pain was acting up, which broke my heart a little. She would have absolutely adored every single second of it. So, I did what any good daughter would do and turned into a full-on tourist, snapping dozens of photos of all the vibrant altars, the huge artistic displays, and the incredible costumes so she wouldn't miss out. Scrolling through the pictures with her later made me so glad the city puts on events like this. It is such a gift when community spaces bring people together to celebrate memory, love, and life in such a gorgeous, thoughtful way.
It was so wonderful sharing this cozy corner with you today. Thank you for creeping by and reading along! May the rest of your day be filled with warm cider, soft candlelight, and gentle autumn peace. Talk to you soon!
