Falling for Your Questions: Autumn Q&A Edition

"Notice that autumn is more the season of the soul than of nature." — (Friedrich Nietzsche)

Hello, my lovely friends!

Happy first week of fall, everybody. There is officially a chill in the air, which means it is legally acceptable to wear oversized sweaters, drink something warm out of a mug with two hands, and pretend we actually enjoy raking leaves. To celebrate the shift in seasons, I put together a few silly little questions to get us all in the crisp, autumnal spirit. Grab yourself a blanket, get cozy, and drop your answers in the comments so we can all chat.

1. Favorite candle scent?
It is the Apple Cider scent from Yankee Candle, and it honestly smells just like you are baking a warm batch of fall spices in the kitchen. It brings all those sweet, nostalgic autumn feelings straight into your living room the second you turn it on.

Here is the real magic trick, though: instead of lighting it, I use a candle warmer. I swear this single jar has lasted me for years, and it still smells just as strong as the day I brought it home. If you want your place to smell amazing all season without burning through your money, treat yourself to a candle warmer and this scent. You will thank me later.

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?
Choosing between coffee, tea, or hot chocolate is basically an impossible choice because I genuinely love all three depending on the vibe. But once the warmer weather rolls around, I almost always end up reaching for a fresh cup of tea instead of heavy coffee or super sweet cocoa. My absolute top pick has to be the Cinnamon Apple tea from Celestial Seasonings. It is so good, smells amazing, and feels light enough for warm days while still giving you that cozy flavor.

3. Pumpkin, cinnamon or maple?

If you forced me to pick between pumpkin, cinnamon, and maple, I’d probably try to sneak all three into my cart before anyone noticed. But if we’re being completely honest, cinnamon wins every single time. It is hands down the absolute best part of fall, and I will happily throw a generous dash of it into literally anything I’m eating or drinking.

There’s just something so comforting about adding a little cinnamon to your morning coffee when the air starts getting chilly. It instantly makes a regular Tuesday feel like a cozy Sunday morning. Maple and pumpkin definitely have their moment, but cinnamon is the true everyday MVP that keeps us warm all season long.

4. What is your favorite Fall food?

Apple butter is my absolute non-negotiable every autumn. Spending a slow afternoon cooking down apples with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a splash of cider until everything turns rich, dark, and sweet makes the whole house smell like a giant hug. Having a fresh jar sitting in the fridge feels like a tiny luxury. I end up spreading it on warm toast, swirling it into morning oatmeal, or just sneaking a quick spoonful straight out of the jar when nobody is looking.

Then again, cool weather just demands soup, and nothing beats a classic chicken soup made from scratch. When you let the broth simmer low and slow with fresh herbs, tender carrots, and thick noodles, it turns into pure comfort in a bowl. It is the ultimate feel-good food for those chilly evenings when you just want to wrap yourself in a big blanket and curl up on the couch.

At the end of the day, I do not think I can actually pick just one. Fall is all about those warm, familiar flavors that make staying inside feel like the best plan ever. Whether you are team sweet or team savory, there is nothing better than filling your kitchen with good food and taking it easy.

5. What is your favorite Fall month?
I know everyone gets excited when the leaves start turning, but if we are being completely honest, October takes the crown without even trying. There is just something so magical about this time of year, especially once the Halloween vibes start kicking in. The weather finally cools down enough for cozy sweaters, the air smells like crisp fallen leaves, and you can practically feel the spooky excitement building up everywhere you go.

It is the one month where you can decorate your house with tiny pumpkins, drink warm drinks all day long, and pretend you are living in a cozy movie. Plus, counting down to Halloween gives the whole month this fun, mischievous energy that no other season can quite match. So while September is nice and November has its moments, October will always have my heart as the absolute best part of fall.

6. What is your favorite thing about Fall?

There is something so cozy about the weather finally cooling down enough to dig through the back of the closet for all those oversized, soft sweaters. Slipping into a giant knit on a crisp morning just feels like a big hug, and it instantly makes everything feel a little slower and sweeter.

Beyond the cozy clothes, autumn is the ultimate excuse to completely revamp the makeup routine. It is so much fun to swap out the bright summer glosses and sheer tints for rich berry lips, smudgy dark eyeliners, and deep, moody nail polishes. Bringing out those warm, dark tones makes every simple day feel just a bit more chic and put together.

7. What is the Fall weather like where you live?
Living in Colorado means we get a front-row seat to all four seasons, but there is something extra special about how autumn rolls in around here. Most days, we are coasting through that cozy sweet spot where the sun is still warm enough for t-shirts, usually hovering anywhere from the mid-seventies to low eighties, but there is this delicious, cool breeze that hits just right. It is the kind of weather that makes you want to grab an iced coffee, throw on a light cardigan, and spend the entire afternoon wandering around outside.

Of course, Colorado loves to keep us on our toes, so autumn isn't entirely predictable. You can be enjoying that gorgeous Indian summer sun one week, and then suddenly find yourself pulling out the heavy winter boots because October decided to surprise everyone with an early snowfall. It keeps things interesting, to say the least, but honestly, that contrast is part of the magic. Whether we are soaking up the golden sunshine or watching the first white flakes dust the changing leaves, fall here always feels like a treat.

8. What is your favorite thing about Fall?

There is something about the first real chill in the air that instantly changes my appetite and my mood. The moment the leaves start turning, I completely lose interest in light summer salads and head straight for anything warm, savory, and cozy. Fall is easily the best season of the year simply because it gives us full permission to slow down, turn on the stove, and cook all the ultimate comfort foods.

For me, the magic of autumn is all about those slow afternoons spent simmering a huge pot of soup or baking something that fills the entire house with the smell of cinnamon and roasting squash. It is the time for heavy Dutch ovens, cheesy casseroles, and hearty stews that taste even better as leftovers the next day. Cooking in the fall does not feel like a chore; it feels like a warm hug at the end of a long day, best enjoyed while wrapped in a blanket with a big glass of red wine or a warm mug of cider.

Beyond just the food itself, I love how fall meals bring a sense of quiet comfort back into our routines after the chaotic energy of summer. Gathering around a crowded table with friends, sharing a batch of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, or just eating a hot bowl of chili on a Sunday evening makes everything feel grounded again. It is a season made for lingering over good food, taking things easy, and savoring the simple joy of a home-cooked meal.

9. What is your least favorite thing about Fall?
Every fall, like clockwork, the air loses all its moisture and my sinuses immediately go on strike. Everyone else is out there living their best cozy life, sipping warm drinks in oversized sweaters, while I’m over here trying to navigate a season that feels less like a crisp embrace and more like a personal attack on my nose.

The second the leaves start turning, the air gets ridiculously dry and my allergies kick into overdrive. It’s hard to feel like a fall goddess when you’re constantly hunting for a stray tissue or trying not to rub your eyes into oblivion. You want to enjoy the change of weather, but instead you’re just low-key suffering through the dust and pollen.

10. What is your favorite Fall tradition?
There is something so magical about that first crisp autumn morning when you step outside and immediately crave a warm drink and a cozy sweater. Fall always has a way of slowing down time just enough for us to notice the little things, and every year I find myself looking forward to the simple routines that make this season feel like a giant, comfortable hug.

My absolute favorite tradition is loading up the car and taking a long drive into the mountains just to watch the leaves turn. Seeing entire hillsides transform into vibrant shades of gold, orange, and deep red is genuinely breathtaking, no matter how many times you have seen it before. We roll down the windows, turn up a great playlist, and just take in the cool air and endless views. It is the perfect reminder to pause, breathe, and soak in the fresh season before life speeds back up.

Thank you again for being part of this space with me. Take the best care of yourself today, wherever you are, and I cannot wait to catch up again real soon. Talk soon...
