Turning a Bad Day Into an October Memory

"Where there is no imagination, there is no horror." (Arthur Conan Doyle)

Hello, my lovely friends!

A few years back, my sister and oldest nephew Cuinn came into town in October to visit my mom and me. If you’ve been around here a while, you might remember that’s the exact trip where we ended up in a car accident the very day they flew in. Talk about a dramatic welcome to town. But even with that wild start, we still had our tickets lined up for the pumpkin fest at a place called Hudson Gardens, and we were determined to make the best of it.

Looking back at the pictures from that day always makes me smile because the carved pumpkins we saw were just incredible. Artists can turn an ordinary squash into a literal masterpiece, with details so fine you almost forget you are looking at a vegetable. Wandering through the displays in the crisp October air was such a cozy way to shake off the stress of the travel hiccups and just enjoy being together.

It is funny how life works out that way, throwing a wrench into your plans right out of the gate, only to hand you some of your favorite memories right after. If you have ever had a trip or an outing start off totally sideways only to turn into something special, you definitely know the feeling. I would love to hear about your own funny or wild October travel stories down in the comments, or just let me know what kind of autumn traditions you are looking forward to this year!

It was so lovely having you drop by the haunt today. Thank you for reading along! May the rest of your day be filled with sweet treats, warm smiles, and cozy pumpkin magic. Spook to you soon!

  1. Wow those pumpkins are beautiful. As you asked the question about a day starting off, well, off and ending well I chuckled and thought 'most of my life' - LOL. I can't think of an October one at the moment but I know there have been many. Thanks for sharing the photos again and I do remember that blog when it happened. Have a wonderful day!
