"You either get bitter or you get better. It's that simple. You either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to make you a better person, or you allow it to tear you down.
The choice does not belong to fate, it belongs to you." (Josh Shipp)
Hello, my lovely friends!
How’s your weekend going so far? Our weather has been sunny, but still cold outside. This week our weather is going to be nice with lots of sun that will melt the snow for us. Watch as soon as the snow goes away, we’ll get hit with a new round of snow.
For Christmas, I got some new coffee from my favorite place Fireside Coffee. The other day I went to grind the coffee to put in the jars on the coffee bar and my grinder just stopped working. I’ve had that grinder for nearly twenty years and I guess it just had too much and gave up. My mom decided to get me a late Christmas gift and a new coffee grinder. The one I got you can take the cup off and wash it. The other one I couldn’t do that and could only wipe it down with a wet cloth. I already tried it and it works very well.
We're keeping our decorations up since my sister and BIL are coming in a little over a week. I do want to organize our decorations because things we're all over the places when doing the decorating. Since I’m talking about organizing things it got me thinking about the things I do when I do a deep clean and de-clutter the house. If you have any suggestions let us know in the comments.
1) Pick one room or an area to start - Starting small makes it look and feel like you’ve done a lot. This way by the time you get to the larger rooms you'll have the majority of the rooms cleaned and organized.
2) Keep, donate, or giveaway - this year is all about downsizing things in the house. I'm at the point where I no longer want to keep things that I don't use or think one day I will use it. I know a lot of us have those things at home. Get a couple of boxes and throw what you want to donate and giveaway in each box. Once you have a box filled that you're donating put it in your car. This way you won't have a chance to talk yourself into keeping it.
3) Finish a room and be done with it - I know I'm guilty of starting somewhere and then moving on to another part before finishing it. My goal this time around is to start and finish before I move on.
4) Make it fit for you - I've seen organizing videos and there is no way I would have a house that organized because its not me. However, I do like having things in their own place. Find what works for you and go with it.
Thank you for stopping by! Wishing you a day/evening/morning filled with sunshine, laughter, and perhaps a little bit of magic. Until next time, ta-ta for now!
Don't you just love the little "push" that January brings, especially when we get a mild day or two for contrast? Love the "make it fit for you" attitude!
ReplyDeleteYes, I've been in a big cleaning mode these past few weeks. I deep cleaned everything. Yes, always do you, your way.

Good for you, hubby and I purge often and we were sure glad we got it done with DD the 1st arriving. Made her move much easier for her. Have fun with downsizing is my advice. We really love a good purge.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot to purge in the house. My goal this year is to finally get it done.
DeleteEnjoy your day! (((BIG HUG)))
It's Kathy. I so want to clear out the clutter but since I've been released for mild activity on 11/20 it seems I've had one crisis after another. The latest is this darn sinus infection, which I took the last pill last night. So I'm really hoping to feel better now! Yes, I am guilty of starting in one room - then I need to put something away in another room - and I never get back to the first room. I like your plan!
ReplyDeleteHow are you doing? I know it'll be wonderful once you're all healed and ready to go, but the time before is not fun. I'm going to work on things a little at a time, but make sure I do something everyday.

When I declutter a room, I divide it into 4 quadrants and continue in the current area til it's done. Then move on. DEFINITLEY too to have boxes: keep, donate, toss.
ReplyDeleteI have my closet arranged so . . . . if I have outfits in there that I haven't worn in a year, it is donated. I'm not really a fashionista, so I guess that helps . . . . not a ton of clothes.
The basement and the garage take the longest since I don't declutter there often.
Good luck!
So glad you have a new coffee grinder. Mine is about as old as yours! Love it.
Well, here's to a good new week ahead.
hugs and blessings
